![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Playa del Sol Group began in the late 1990’s as an informal partnership between an American developer and a Mexican national, both of them living in Puerto Vallarta. After building their first small hotel in Puerto Vallarta, they went on to develop Playa del Sol Grand in Nuevo Vallarta and Playa del Sol Los Cabos on the Baja Peninsula. Playa del Sol Grand and Playa del Sol Los Cabos were both sold to another hotel group two years ago, but in 2005, the Playa del Sol Group had acquired a beautiful ocean front property just five minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. This property was named Playa del Sol Costa Sur. It was briefly “flagged” as a Howard Johnson hotel, but its quirky, eccentric charm didn’t quite fit with a large hotel chain. It was renamed again – this time simply as Costa Sur. With its own swimming lagoon, Costa Sur has become a favorite getaway for people who want to be in a quiet, secluded location but also have immediate access to all that Puerto Vallarta has to offer. The Playa del Sol Group had learned a lot in the process of designing, building and operating a large hotel property such as Playa del Sol Grand in Nuevo Vallarta before its sale in 2010. But they were very pleased to “downsize” their operation with the sale of Playa del Sol Grand. Gelsey Fadul, Marketing Director for both properties, says, “We are very happy with both resorts. They are very different, each with unique qualities, but Costa Sur and Crowne Plaza Mazatlan really complement each other in many ways while also sharing some excellent features – such as ocean frontage on the best beaches in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.” |
